Back in February I spied a most beautiful wool sheep that Julia (Bilberry Grove blog) had made for Wendy (The Quiet Room blog)and after a few emails we negotiated a fun little swap:)
I received a delightful package back at Easter but between events here, I am just getting around to sharing (I have been enjoying their beauty though!)

Wrapped beautifully in prim paper, it was like Christmas, unwrapping all the little packages and was I delighted or what!

Such attention to detail and such beautiful stitching Julia does!
Just look at the little neck label

....and the wired key on the rusty heart.
On the other side is a big red button (I forgot to get a pic)

Julia also popped in some other lovely goodies- this candle smells divine (oatmeal cookies!)

a lovely wool applique book and chocolates (my weakness)...you are getting to know me so well Julia:)

Once again, thank you so much Julia, it was such a fun swap and I am so enjoying my treasures, you are a very talented stitcher.

I also had the great pleasure of winning a giveaway from the very talented Kaaren (The Painted Quilt)

I have been a faithful follower of Kaarens for sometime now and she is very generous with her artistic talent with free patterns and goodie giveaways.

I don't generally enter giveaways because I live across the pond but this one I couldn't resist, both because of its content-Aurifil threads and Floral Gatherings charm pack, (both of which we have such difficulty getting here)and because Kaaren so generously opened it up for all, to include international!

You can imagine my delight when I got word I had won!
Thank you sooo much Kaaren and for the extra goodies included, you are so thoughtful and believe me, they are much appreciated!

Thanks again,for visiting, I am still plodding on with bits and pieces of hand sewing.

It is a cool Bank Holiday Monday here, so the fire is lit, ready for me to stitch at when I get the laundry finished:)
Stitching hugs!Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-80363100926394089372014-04-14T12:14:00.000-07:002014-04-14T12:14:04.213-07:00Flimsy collecting!It sure has been a while......but I am still loving stitching, have no fear! It is just time to post seems to be the issue!

'Son' asked me recently had I quit blogging and when I assured him that I hoped not, he decided my blog needed a 'fresher' look. From what I can gather, the background seems to view ok on computer but not ipad?

Anyways, I have deducted I am a collector of 'flimsies'! When I get one finished, I can't wait to move on to start someting else and they never seem to get quilted. Does anyone else have that issue?

I think it is because everything gets handquilted and that is a slow daunting process.
Here are the latest flimsies,
Having seen 'Winter Solstice' on Karens (Log Cabin Quilter)blog and loved how she made it up, so this is my version, with wool applique

Next up, is Buttermilk Basin, 'Sheep in the Willow'. This was on the go for sometime but I loved how 'Quilt Hollow' put hers together and my desire to get it finished was ignited once again!

Last up are the house blocks put together

Plenty of handquilting me thinks?
Thanks again for sharing with me despite my randomness:)Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-54784767483575450082013-12-31T15:08:00.000-08:002014-01-01T02:35:34.892-08:00Such fun! ......and what was I thinking?Well, here we are drawing to the close of another year and the blessing of beginning another new one, God willing.
I thought I would share a few pics of some relaxing time this evening. The dining room table has been cleared of all its festive decor and a mess is in progress.

If you look carefully you will see my son has been doing art, my youngest daughter was doing her favourite thing 'making wee books' and mum was trying to learn the workings of her new toy!

Note, don't look too close.....cleaning day is tomorrow, when all the decorations will be going away!
The fire was lit, we were warm and cosy and soooo enjoying ourselves!
Do you see my new toy?.......I have wanted a featherweight portable for a while now, since my sewing room is 2 flights of stairs away and it is a days work to bring down my machine, not to mention getting it back up!

Of course I could't wait for a new quarter inch foot to arrive plus it kind of goes against the ethos of using 'old' so I googled and marked my scant quarter inch with tape and my baby is purring perfectly!
There is just something satisfying about the running of these machines.....therapy!

As usual, straight in with both feet..... no small project would do, although it is simple piecing, which is just what I need.
When I saw this in the winter edition of Quiltmania 2012, I knew it was a must for my red and white collection

Next pic shows some of those blocks on the rocker behind

Fun over, now for the 'what was I thinking' part!
Do you see what I have also started? Needleturn applique-but do you see all those curves? Yes, it is ALL curves! That isn't the worst part.....there are 20 blocks to be done!

All because I fell in love with this alphabet border...what was I thinking???
Don't look for a finish anytime soon, but at least each block is pretty mindless with one main colour!

Finally, I have a finish! 'Home sweet home' is bound ans a sleeve attached for mounting when I get my quilt shelf made.
Just 2 more 'Heart to Hand' quilts to hand quilt.......

Thanks again for stopping by and best wishes for inward peace, happiness and much stitching for 2014Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-66456100878462371612013-11-26T04:35:00.001-08:002013-11-26T04:35:43.187-08:00Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas. . . . . .
Where has time gone!

This is my all time favourite season of the year, especially for decorating. I love the cosy lit fires, the twinkling lights and the comfort of my home in the dark evenings, with everyone home and the blinds drawn!

I think it lends so well to stitching, drinking hot chocolate and warming toes at the fire!

Here are a few projects I have been working on

I finished this little Primitive Gathering mat off with ric-rac

Not sure whether this will turn into a framed picture or a cushion. The pattern shows it as a picture

Long dark evenings, cosy fires and a few good magazines.....what could be better?

Simply Vintage is now in English........being in French didn't stop me buying it because the pics were so lovely anyway

Lastly, I am delighted with my purchase from Nancy (Moonpie Primitive) Linen red and white...who could resist! I just love it

The fire is lit, I'm off to rest up with a coffee and get inspired with'Simply Vintage'
What do you get when you add house love to red love plus 2 coloured quilt love?

Yes, a red and whit house block quilt! Or hopefully soon to be!

For a while now I have been working on these blocks very kindly produced FOC twice monthly by 'Sentimental Stitches' and 'It takes Two'

lots of threads to clip!
This is going to be a wall hanging when I get 1 more block made and the sashing and borders on.

What happens when you can't decide on whether to do traditional red and white or different reds with a tea-dyed fabric......

Make 2! So I am quite behind with my actual red and white (there are 20 blocks in total)but if I get the first one finished for Christmas, I will be very happy!

I had great difficulty getting the sizing right because UK printers and papers are different to USA. I settled with enlarging 105% for the wall hanging and ended up with 103% for the red and white which seems to be a much better fit, but I sure am not re-doing them.

I don't have much else to share with regards to stitching-shall we just say everyday living gets in the way?
Thanks for stopping by,Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-68017246851267228152013-09-06T05:26:00.002-07:002013-09-06T05:26:47.600-07:00Friday catchup!
Well, we have 1 week of school routine nearly finished and it has been a busy busy week!
Hopefully next week will come more naturally.

I am so glad it is Friday, even though it spells a weekend of laundry,but just to be able to relax a little, so what better way to relax and get the weekend off to a good start but to have some stitch fix!
AND to be even more organised........get a blog post underway :)
I can't say I have achieved much on the stitching front but here are a few pics of what I have been working on.

Hubby and I got the most delightful treat at the end of August with a few days away on our own, so of course I had to hurridly prep some hand stitching......just in case! This is another pattern by 'Heart to Hand' with a few little changes.

I also finished the binding on this quilt

And I am still enjoying big stitch quilting this quilt I showed last time

Normally I just keep my blog for stitching but I thought I would share another lovely little trip my sister and niece, my youngest daughter and I had recently.
We got a girlie night to a gypsy caravan 'Rosie Lee' and what fun we had together.

Now I am feeling inspired to stitch before the school run. I hope you find some stitch therapy this weekend,

Well, I am not sure if anyone is still about that used to visit me but I have so missed blogging myself, although I love to jump on to blogger and catch up on some of my favourite blogs for inspiration.

I went last week to Birmingham fesival of quilts and it was such a delight to wander up and down the isles and view all the beautiful fabrics and quilts, not to mention the goodies I just had to have!

We have had a beautiful summer this year for the kids being off school and with us not getting away far this year, the good weather was such a blessing. In between all the running about I have been chugging away on my 'Home Sweet Home' quilt designed by 'Heart to Hand'and am pleased to report that the hand quilting is in progress!

This is the first time I have used valdani 12 to hand quilt with a bigger stitch. I am loving the added dimension it brings to the wool and woven fabrics-hopefully I will finish this quilt this time!

The next few pictures are of the purchases I made at the quilt festival (especially for Wendy 'The Quiet Room' as we had hoped to get on the same day and meet up, but unfortunately with family commitments, that was not to be) I think there are a few similarities Wendy, such as a few wool bundles and 'snowman gatherings' by Primitive Gatherings :)

'Sew Cherished' was a lovely little booth from America, selling wool crazy kits
I bought a few Japanese wovens for my 'Heart to Hand' patterns and also fell for linens this year-I love the lighter look they give-some were tea dyed.

Thanks, if you have taken the time to stop by. I just hope I can get this to publish now!Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-57438779944465856342013-03-15T07:12:00.001-07:002013-03-15T07:17:34.444-07:00Latest BOM progress!
This is a 'sit down guilt free' kind of day!

Our littlest is recovering after a sickie bug and requires her mothers presence as she rests. That means I don't feel guilty about the mountain awaiting me in front of the washing machine or the overflowing ironing basket. There is no fear that they will disappear though, no they will wait until another day.

So as we relax, I thought I would share my progress on Jan Pateks 'Pine Tree Ridge' BOM.

Karen from 'Farmhouse woolens' very kindly got the patterns for me and I am using fabric from my stash.

I have just put them randomly on my display wall to show all together, though this is not the placement on the actual quilt.

The white of the snowmen will be distressed on completion I think. Any of the fabrics in my stash were a little too creamy in colour.

I am enjoying this needleturn applique very much in the evenings-very relaxing.

My other good intention this month was to do 15 mins each day hand quilting my homespun house quilt, but sadly, tht hasn't happened. Here it sits in the dining room with no progress since the first evening I loaded it:(

I hopefully will pop in soon with a little piecing I have been doing. Something I am not particularly experience in but I couldn't resist joining in an online quilt-a-long, especially since it is houses and red fabric!
Have you guessed what I am talking about?

Back soon,Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-2220339109708477582013-02-15T10:16:00.000-08:002013-02-15T10:16:58.639-08:00Home and dry!
Yes, we have made it home and dry!
Truthfully, it was not the house construction that nearly pushed me over the edge, but the garden! I thought I was going to have to cancel the move in date with Anne as the garden was taking too long to plant! Especially those berries!

Not a great picture but it was taken under quite poor night light
Thank you Anne for keeping us at it.
I have enjoyed the challenge of working to a deadline. Now to get it quilted and up!
Thanks for joining me and watching progress:)Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-44639131774813078792013-01-15T12:48:00.003-08:002013-01-15T12:48:31.495-08:00House progress and a few bits!
Well I think I am just going to make this months progress midst everything else that is going on here
I had hoped to be a little further, but we will remain positive for next month. I thought the hard part was over after piecing all the houses but to be truthful, the borders will be just as time consuming, if not more!

I am enjoying this quilt very much, but will admit, without the push of deadlines from our site manager Anne, this would definitely not be as far on!

The borders are difficult to see but it is a black and tan small checked fabric from Buggy Barn.

I know Christmas is well over, but my plan is to try and make something each month in preparation for next Christmas. These burlap trees were made in December but I am tagging them and the 'joy' burlap pillows for January's contribution, simply because I know nothing else will get made this month.

Thanks for your visit and go check out the progress of the other sites across the pond-some great works in progress!
Whoops, just had a preview and see I really need to change my header pic from Christmas, but sorry, not tonight!lol!Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-26668269684387664482012-12-15T09:55:00.000-08:002012-12-15T09:55:24.526-08:00New homespun construction site!So a new construction site has been started across the pond! I showed a pic on my last post of the homespun houses I have started putting together and although very late in joining the SAL, Anne has kindly invited me to come on board.

The reason for the delay? I had to bide my time until I came across the book here in the UK.

I am further behind than most and for that reason I will show 3 this month.

I think I have 1 more house to put together but I have a lot of windows still to do.
Initially I thought this would be a good project to practice my needleturn applique-just windows and doors, but between my lack of skill and the fact that homespun isn't straight to start with, I have wripped out more than I have stitched I think, but we shall persevere!

Go check out Anne's blog to see what others are doing and have a great weekend.Country Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-79899630201974567112012-12-01T05:59:00.000-08:002012-12-01T05:59:04.853-08:00Hello! Feather wool tree link and tutorialIt sure has been a while...........!

No point in starting to give you loads of reasons as to why I have been away for so long, suffice to say, life has been busy.
Why now you ask? Well, a number of very thoughtful people have dropped the odd email to see that things were all OK and of recent I have received a number of emails asking about the wool tree I made last year, so I want to pass on that info as best I can to let people get ready for Christmas:)

I have to give credit to my original inspiration and that is the directions I followed for my first little tree and where I am directing you to follow the instructions regarding the whole method of cutting and gluing etc, so go to here.

Good directions!
So, for my large feather tree, I am sorry but I just adapted the above directions and after measuring for you, roughly they are as follows. I'm sure you creative people could do much better, but roughly here you have it!
I used a 30 inch dowel rod (an old stick would be cool too).
For the bottom 2 rows I cut my wires 9 inches with 7 wires on each row.
Next 2 rows from bottom-7 inch length by 7 wires/row.
Next 2 rows up, 6 inch length by 5 wires/row.
Then 2 rows 5 inch length with 5 wires/row.
Top row, I cut the wires 4.5 inches with 3 on the row.
Finally on the top, I drilled a small hole on the top of the dowel.
Cut a further 4.5 inch wire and insert in the top with glue gun after applying the snipped wool of course.
I used glue gun and brown flower tape.
I hope this helps you get a few made for Christmas:)

While on, I thought I would reassure you that my stitching therapy/addiction?? still continues (when time permits).
Here are a few things I have been working on recently.
This is a Country Stitches pattern, however, I used 32 count linen and it came out a lovely neat sized pillow to display

A Buttermilk Basin, wool runner

Lastly, this is on my design board. I have been watching Anne (Cottons and Woolens blog)and all her friends making this quilt but I knew how difficult it was to find the book, especially in the UK, but after patiently sitting it out, I found one in England, so I am far behind the rest, hence why I haven't joined the quilt-a-long.
So this is for you Anne and thanks for all your inspiration:)
We have been blessed with the most beautiful weather today, which just called for lines of washing to be hung out! yes, sadly I had multiple washes to do, to my shame, but I honestly believe the family members of this house land down their entire wardrobes when I call for dirty laundry!
Again, another busy month has just flown by and again as a result my poor stitching only gets fits and starts here and there, so I will share with you what I am working on, as there doesn@t seem to be many finishes around here anymore.
So blogger puts photo's on in the order we download them now???? Well, I will know for again-maybe you should start at my last pic for that was how they were intended!
I am still slowly plodding with 'Home Sweet Home' in fact I am behind as I have only one stitched of this grouping and the next set have arrived. I so wanted to keep up with this one. I suppose if I stopped starting other projects, that might be the answer......

Like this one.....just had to have a little cross stitch on hand and loved this from 'With thy needle and Thread'

What it will hopefully look like....

I haven't ever done much piecing and some time back I bought a layer cake by French General, so thought I would give it a go-a bit less prim than I am used with but I so loved the fabric and so enjoyed making something bright and 'summery'!

Don't be looking too close but I am trying to hand quilt it after googling techniques-I think the secret to even sized stitches might me a special thimble which I don't have......that's my excuse!

I have loved seeing/drooling over all the new patterns/fsbrics from quilt market; so much to be tempted by, but sure not enough hours in my day to accomplish many, but it doesn't stop me wishing.
Thanks again for stopping by-I hope this publishes ok as the preview thing is scaring me-looks like it has already published and I haven't finished. We shall see how it presents, O no, where is spell check gone????
Happy stitching,

I do find that it helps me relax, which in turn helps me get the jobs on hand dealt with!

Today finds us off for the Easter break and I have my niece staying over and to lift her mind (her mum is having an op today)we got to stitching, so we are having a relaxing day. Here is my daughter and niece learning stitchery!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--3lbY4TkNMA/T3yPZanEn1I/AAAAAAAABSk/yrfAjqs9BEw/s320/CIMG3397.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5727610492911132498" />

Then below are some things I have been working on during my 3 months absence from blogging.
First up is 'Home Sweet Home' by 'Heart to Hand' I have the first 3 blocks finished.
Now before you say, what about your other Autumn quilt........I have the top all sewed together, just have to do the vines etc and I haven't taken a recent picture.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hWAMFBoEtOM/T3yPZOeLi7I/AAAAAAAABSY/yWVFGzA5sZM/s320/CIMG3406.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5727610489652612018" />

This next is a different colour palette than usual for me but I am enjoying working on it- a Sandy G pattern.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g6_4_wGy10g/T3yPYT7eS8I/AAAAAAAABSQ/3RBBoYip6aU/s320/CIMG3405.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5727610473937783746" />

Then something handy for the Easter break-some stitchery blocks by Primitive Stitches that Karen from Farmhouse Woolens had in her shop a while ago.
I am loving doing it especially since I have realised the joy of 'Transfer eze'
I LOVE this stuff. Yikes...how am I going to get everything done in time and still have time to sit back and enjoy???

As I was tidying round this morning, I thought I should share a few Christmas decorating pics. Some of my sewing machine table displays and a little of my mantles.

I have been enjoying beautiful decorating out there in blogland and I sooo wish I had the 'know how' and the ability to make my photo's better! You are going to have to excuse leads and walls that shouldn't be in the pics, but I don't know how to crop them (leads are the being of my life at Christmas!!)Also, the lighting, if I turn a lamp on it is too bright, if I turn it off, it's too dark......!!!

<img style="display:block; I will try and get some red berry holly nearer to the holidays, but in the meantime this will have to do.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Csp6VqJjNNM/TtT3c5KmHzI/AAAAAAAABM4/xt1QYojWdRM/s320/CIMG3325.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680437105774698290" />

And a closer pic of the fire.....We took out the fireplace and gas fire and put in this wood burning stove and I LOVE it-soooo cosy. This room seldom got used as I never felt comfortable with the gas and we always seemed to migrate to the other room with the wood burning stove in it.
We put a 17th century beam above as you know I needed something to decorate!lol!
These bits are only set up meantime until I get my Christmas lights out.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0HgEdG-Cwso/TtT3cQGe8-I/AAAAAAAABMs/EE6kJrKEw6I/s320/CIMG3326.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680437094751597538" />

As I was putting a few Christmas bits out on Saturday, the postman came with a parcel for me! It's always my busiest time of the year for things other than my stitching!!!

Family, home, church, entertaining, running the roads, all seem to take priority at this time of the year. Don't get me wrong, I am delighted to be fit and able to do them, but.....sometimes I yearn for a little more time to make Christmas things, but guess what, I am on hols next week and I have promised myself and those around here, that mama is going to have several days of play!!! Watch this space:)

I did manage to find some time to make a few short projects, so that made me feel 'Christmassy'

This little pillow is a 'Country rustic primitives' pattern. I finished it off with wool of course, with little wool applique tongues.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ob_EtQCJ7Zs/Tr0y2Vb8-VI/AAAAAAAABKA/kBGaDAK3r-w/s320/IMG-20111111-00085.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5673747014605404498" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zr9zlnzI7NE/Tr0y1_sG_pI/AAAAAAAABJ0/H7mCoNVVKW0/s320/IMG-20111111-00083.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5673747008767590034" />

Next is a runner, very difficult to photo, especially with my phone!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DZsqwrLOky8/Tr0xruVywuI/AAAAAAAABJk/I4Faph2dqf0/s320/IMG-20111111-00087.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5673745732800266978" />

A little tree I made, but I will show a better pic next time. I made a few little changes that personalises it a bit.
Here is the quilt top-just another one to add to my collection of 'tops'!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3RR4Fzm38aA/TpWwEp9lWCI/AAAAAAAABIE/k3226mmwF50/s320/DSC00802.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662625700518385698" />

I wool felted Santa's fur trims and used mini ric-rac that I got from 'Country Stitches' to outline the gingerbread girlie. Also, some rusty bells to the tree and wool felted snow to the leaves of the top tree.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7LqKzFae_Y8/TpWwEetgMKI/AAAAAAAABH4/1rPfJea6daY/s320/DSC00803.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662625697498149026" />

You can see I added a manger scene, as that is the real reason why Christmas is so important to me in that Jesus my Saviour came as a little babe.
I also included some stitched wording 'Glad Tidings of Joy' it helped fill a little space too!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gnaOPVv-CEg/TpWwBwSMW8I/AAAAAAAABHw/ii7TNNyvpW0/s320/DSC00804.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662625650675833794" />

I may add a few details more and no doubt as I look at the pics, areas that need filling will be clear, but this is what I have been working on the last few days.

That's all I have time for right now as there is a house full of hungry kids here, needing feeding.

Until next week,
ShazyCountry Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-4053670095668327992011-10-05T03:01:00.000-07:002011-10-05T03:33:24.794-07:00Quilt blocks and RAK!It's a blustery Autumn morning here in Ireland; a good day for sorting things out and that is what I have been doing with my Autumn quilt blocks, pattern by 'Heart to Hand'

I finished off the cornucopia last night and then got all my completed blocks out to see what they look like......only 4 more to prep and sew!!!
Please excuse the colours, they look somewhat faded, but I had to use my phone as I can't find the plug to charge my camera. They say creative people rarely have an organised house-that's my excuse anyway!

This is block 7

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tPWw7qMEpCw/TowuD8rvGJI/AAAAAAAABHk/REiwIn_hk80/s320/Antrim-20111005-00061.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659949477061925010" />

....and block 8

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uQddAIcDOKM/TowuDkBaKGI/AAAAAAAABHc/5602n_302BE/s320/Antrim-20111005-00060.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659949470441941090" />

A picture of the first 6 completed or thereabouts-I'm seeing a little something I might like to change!lol!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kUnkrwNBM7M/TowsUCjC58I/AAAAAAAABHE/jTLFpT_OacA/s320/Antrim-20111005-00058.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659947554490738626" />

Yesterday morning, I got the most lovely surprise! Postie brought me a little package and you all know I just love getting little packages in the post.
my good friend Wendy (The Quiet Room blog) sent me a RAK, a just because, in her own words 'everyone needs a few more pumpkins'. Just look at this adorable set of pumpkins, which I have proudly displayed on my front table for all to see when they enter the front door. Sorry I can't seem to do anything about the blur, no matter how many times I took the pic.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 237px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wVEaBTu-Ba8/TowsTyFmOCI/AAAAAAAABG8/7U8O89pFCvQ/s320/Antrim-20111005-00055.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659947550072256546" />

I just love them Wendy and thank you once again for your thoughtfulness and generosity-I might add though, she has enough pumpkins to share with her village! Well she has to......MAKE them of course!

I LOVE feather trees and I came across a great tutorial on how to make a wool feather tree-well..... you know my love affair with wool? Also my good friend Christine from 'Preferably Prim' had a special birthday and I know she has been looking for some prim trees to decorate with, hence my excuse to get started!
You will see her trees here

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u4e0biLeTS8/ToYiTBRX28I/AAAAAAAABG0/GtvGbKrf09E/s320/Antrim-20110928-00032.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658247691991768002" />

I used brown coloured wool and attached mini pumpkins for a fall tree. I showed our teenagers my attempts the other night-of course they said it was lovely but....mum, 'pumpkins don't grow on trees'!!!! How sad, that not everybody gets the prim thing!lol!
I am not sure if I am hyperlinking these sites but I will try again. The feather tree tutorial found here

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AS8bYT_gg6A/ToYiS-IRW7I/AAAAAAAABGs/tb8zekEc5UE/s320/Antrim-20110928-00033.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658247691148286898" />
This is a wool crazy bobbin tree.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DEtU9YzVK0c/ToYiSUHJuZI/AAAAAAAABGk/yGC-0kNBPOw/s320/Antrim-20110928-00036.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658247679869303186" />

A smaller autumn coloured tree and just to show the size....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--U3jyPI0uEY/ToYiSIw88mI/AAAAAAAABGc/Ctu75y4mLl0/s320/Antrim-20110928-00035.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658247676823401058" />

Finally, a bobbin feather tree

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f0qkujLf5wE/ToYiR8_v4iI/AAAAAAAABGU/BkXsPPOOeLU/s320/Antrim-20110928-00038.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658247673664234018" />

Sorry the links don't appear to have worked:( I will try and edit again when my son comes home-he is more technically minded than I am

Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,

ShazyCountry Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4646813584563211397.post-69069571085935294822011-09-12T11:08:00.001-07:002011-09-12T11:37:25.101-07:00Christmas quilt top finish!!It's very like a winters evening here, between the winds howling and the rain beating against the window-very comforting and it is just making me itch to stitch!

I probably should be leaving this post until tomorrow, when I can get better pics, but I have finished my quilt top and I am soooo excited!
The colours are quite dark, but I can't wait until daylight.

Goodness, you would nearly think I had the quilt finished with my excitement, but I am just in denial about the mammoth task of quilting-it is always the bit that challenges me most!

Without further ado- my quilt top! I love how the borders were designed and PG's cool way of doing them in wool.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9YgvUXMGIaM/Tm5OIt3ACKI/AAAAAAAABGM/OlqOx2xjNgk/s320/CIMG3307.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651540494052755618" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lMkRuSXEsMc/Tm5L3QV0i_I/AAAAAAAABFs/PKQtCTENJKI/s320/CIMG3302.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651537995047930866" />

Another little finish-a Cheri pattern, I started last year.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Iy8uLt6aPbM/Tm5L3qFLTDI/AAAAAAAABF8/KHgcDKj2_BE/s320/CIMG3305.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651538001957440562" />

And finally, a peep at tonight's hand stitching!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T4gPfnpB_Xs/Tm5OIbf9wlI/AAAAAAAABGE/b6oSQ5vk-iA/s320/CIMG3306.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651540489124299346" />

Thanks again for popping in and I hope you have a stitching evening lined up too,

Shazy xCountry Primshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11652587140396327740noreply@blogger.com13
